Maj James K. Vieregge

Major Vieregge completed Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Minnesota and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in December 2011. He checked into Basic Officer Course 5-12 in July 2012 and graduated in February 2013. Afterward, he completed Basic Communications Officers Course in Quantico, VA and graduated in June 2013.
In July 2013, Major Vieregge reported to Camp Lejeune, NC for assignment as the Combat Logistics Battalion 2 Battalion S-6 Officer. During his time, Major Vieregge deployed in support of Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response - Africa 14.2. In July 2015, Major Vieregge reported to Combat Logistics Regiment 2 for duty as the Regimental S-6 Officer where he served until June 2016.
In June 2016, Major Vieregge reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC where he served as a Series Commander with Company M, 3d Recruit Training Battalion. In April 2018, Major Vieregge was selected to serve as the Company Commander for Company L, 3d Recruit Training Battalion. During this assignment, he was selected to attend resident Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS) in Quantico, VA from August 2019 - May 2020.
Following EWS, Major Vieregge reported for duty in Okinawa, Japan as the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) S-6A. Between June 2020 and August 2021, Major Vieregge completed two deployments with the 31st MEU aboard the USS AMERICA. In August 2021, Major Vieregge was selected to his current rank and reported to Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18 (MWCS-18) for duty as Company Commander. Following Company Command, he assumed duties as the MWCS-18 squadron Operations Officer in May 2022 where he served until July 2023. Major Vieregge was selected for the Graduate Education Program and is currently completing a Master of Education in Instructional Design and Technology from the University of Cincinnati.
Major Vieregge holds a B.A. in History from the University of Minnesota and a Master of IT Management from Colorado State University. Major Vieregge's personal decorations include a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation with one gold star and a Meritorious Service Medal.
